Backlight of a Stylistic 2300 Transflective Display (modified 0 times) hagie Profile Hi, I just got a defective stylistic 2300 for 30 Bucks. It's Transflective model and the backlight is defective. Does anyone know what kind of backlight is used there (cfl tube or EL Foil)?? If my suggestion is right, the inverter bard is defective (no measurable output on the inverter board), does anyone have a broken stylistic or something and is willing to sell my the inverter board ??? The site gives a part number for Kyocera 8.4" LCD screens -- the size installed in the 2300. Can't be certain if the number is applicable but it's a place to start. I never saw the display in action ... how is it compared to the dstn display of the stylistic 1200 ??? I'd like to know if it is worth to invest all this time and work into organzing the inverter board (i allready called fujitsu europe and will do this again !!) Also, I called a Fujitsu tech who gave me the part number for my inverter (TFT screen) which is CA 46010-1603 ($19 retail). He is trying to locate a sales outlet for me. I'll pass it along when I get it. Looks like we're zeroing in on this problem. In answer to the DSTN question: My 1200 had a DSTN screen and it was limited to about 4000 colors with a slow refresh rate. It might work as a picture frame (static) but it's definitely early tech compared to TFT's. Jim 03-17-2003 19:30:05

There is still some doubt about actually getting our hands on the right pieces. There is still the option of sending the unit in for repair. I missed your reference to "transflective" and I don't have any experience with the screen. I have heard that the transflective is viewable outdoors where the TFT and DSTN are not, but it tends to be less bright indoors than other screens. Jim 03-18-2003 11:10:15

Fujitsu has my part (and probable yours) but won't sell it to me; the local reseller of Fujitsu computers is authorized to sell parts but doesn't have any in stock. Here's what I suggest you do: Call Fujitsu Tech Support and verify your part number is in stock. Get a price. Find your local authorized Fujitsu service center. You can get it from Tech Support or from the Fujitsu web site. Contact the service center and have them get the part you need. As it turns out I didn't need a new inverter. When I opened the case I found the connector from the inverter to the backlight was loose. Oh well . . . Jim 04-10-2003 09:57:19
