Battery Warning Beep on 2300

Is there a way to disable this really annoying beep? Since I use it mostly for MP3's (and therefore muting the sound is not an option) it is basically unusable once the beeping starts, even though my 2300 will run for a long time after the beeping starts. Even if I could control when it came on, I would be happy, i.e. if I could set it so it starts beeping at 1% remaining instead of about 10 to 12% remaining.

I had this problem on an old notebook I had. On that machine, if you muted the "PC Speaker" in the mixer, the beeping would stop. Not so on the 2300.

Control Panel\Sounds is where you disable the beep. I don't play with the 2300 enough to remember if you can adjust the timing, but I'll look at it later.

This beep has nothing to do with Windows. The sounds in the Control Panel are the Low Battery alarm and the Critical Battery alarm. Both are already disabled on my machine. In fact, the beep I am talking about starts at about 10 to 12% remaining (according to the Windows battery meter) before the battery gets down to the level where I have set the Low Battery alarm to display (5%). The beep I am talking about is coming from the BIOS, I am pretty sure. I am going to disable APM power management in the BIOS and see if that gets rid of it.
