Hey folks,
Recently picked up a nice 2300 for a good price, and been trying various things on it. One of the uses I'd really like to get out of it involves playing various videos. Between myself and a couple friends likely to use it, we enjoy everything from the occasional sci-fi movie to anime, and I've had fairly mixed results. Some things play perfectly, others stutter and lose frames. Tried both Win98 and WinXP, XP is definitely slightly slower but was worth a go. Got it dual-booting now.
Anyway, the crux of my question is if there's any hardware solution for faster video. Various spec sheets I've seen talk about it supporting "Zoomed Video" that allows "Full screen 30 fps video", but I'm having a hard time finding such a card that does anything. The closest I've found is a DVD-to-go card, but I'd rather play stuff on the HD. I suppose I could reencode all my files to MPEG-2, which would work, but does anyone know of any hardware solution that is a more general graphics accelerator? Failing that, does anyone know of any software that will stream the decoded video over a network and use the tablet as a simple framebuffer? I've tried videolan which is close, but it still seems to do the decoding on the remote end. Even Windows Remote Desktop is pretty close :)
Thanks,
Scott Holder
