1200 Inernal Display
Display not working

I recently bought a used 1200 in very good condition. There is no O/S installed. When it starts, nothing is displayed. However, when I use an external monitor, I get the expected message for having no O/S. Do I have a bad unit or will the LCD not work until I install an O/S. I am waiting for my 2.5 to 3.5 adapter to arrive to install 95/98

thanks

Go into the bios...F1 I think (or F2 or DEL) and see what display is listed.

The bios will drive the LCD.

If you have no display, it could be the LCD or the backlight or both.

If your pen works, you can tap the ICON at the bottom of the screen next to the speaker volume up button to change the video output.

I've never had any luck getting the NT4 drivers working on Win2k or XP for a 1200 or 2300. Since Win2k/XP dropped the 'Have Disk' button on the Windows Setup tab, even getting it installed took hacking the sysoc.inf file . I did actually manage to get it installed, but it didn't work. I think it's because there's still no driver for the digitizer, at least on the 2300.

I haven't played with my 1200 in awhile though, it may well work. I've been wanting to try www.v-tablet.com's stuff now that I know more about the 2300's digitizer, but haven't had a chance as I've gone Linux on my tablets.

This is a new question:
Does anyone know a way to turn the backlight off (I have the Transmissive display) without turing the display completely off (i.e. standby)

I'm trying to use the device in my car but the light from the screen is pretty distracting.
Cheers

You can set the backlight level with the touchpads on the far right. You could also set the video timeout to 30 seconds (in BIOS or with PM} and bring it back with a pen click.
