Hi
Anybody out there experience with an USB Webcam and the Stylistic 1200?
I tried different kind of webcam software but all seems to end in a hanging machine....... Maybe it's a problem with the drivers (but I dont think it is...)

Somebody with a beter result? it should be a very tiny package, most of the webcam software is made for Pentium II or higher......

I tried, but was unable to make work, a Dlink DSB-C300. What did work for me was a SiPix Quest Dualcam, and a Pyro IEEE 1394 webcam with a generic cardbus IEEE 1394 adapter

I have been using webcam32 for years.

http://www.webcam32.com/products/webcam32_demo.html

I have used it on a variety of machines.

If you want to make streaming video...well then you will need a fast machine.

But for snapshots the 1200 should be able to handle it.

Hi thanx for your reactions.
I tried Booruwebcam, but it also crashes. I allready send an email to the writer of this software. He suggested that the problems came from the driver. I try to install them again or look for a new one. Let you know soon. I want to use it for snapshots.

No solution yet. Tried several times to install the drivers. Completely re-installed Windows98SE. Nothing helps... the blue screen remain.
I use the 100K pixels USB webcam from SWEEX (very cheap, about 12 euro (14 dollar). I try to find somebody with another type of webcam, see if the same happens.......

i've successfully installed and used a cheap $20 USD Veo Stingray cam. it isn't the best quality, but it's better than the cheaper logitechs and better than any other i've seen and/or tried in such a low price range. the only problem i've noticed is that the software hangs up when coming out of standby. other than that, it works as well as it does on my desktop, but with a slightly lower framerate, of course.

Hi,
I used to have a 133 mhz notebook and was pretty successful using a Creative parallel port webcam. To get it to work reasonably well you have to go into the CMOS setting and play with the options for the parallel port. I don't remember the options now but I discovered that when I got the best setting the webcam worked almost as well as the USB camera on my desktop.

sorry for my very outdated reaction, after march I put the ST1200 aside. Put my time in the garden and other outdoor activities. When i now read the reactions here, i think its time to start again. I started a new thread about the same subject
