Maximum Memory?
What is the maxiumum amount of memory that can be installed in Fujitsu Stylistic 1200?

Is the 32MB of memory on the group buy units all on the board, or is there an extra 16MB DIMM installed? Most of the descriptions I've read indicate that the 1200 comes standard with 16MB of memory on the board, and is only upgradable to 80MB (ostensibly by adding a 64MB DIMM), but if these have 32MB onboard I assume you could upgrade beyond 80MB? Just curious to know what is the max memory you can put in one of these.

It takes a 144 pin EDO SODIMM. The more common, and cheaper, SDRAM will not likely work. It would be nice to know if it can handle a 64M SODIMM though.

According to this installation guide I found on the Viking Website ( http://www.vikingcomponents.com/support/install/242aFuj.pdf ), the Stylistic 1200 maxes out at 80megs of RAM. It will take one 64 MEG module. This PDF also includes the Viking part numbers for the upgrade.

Was it maybe because at the time this document came out (98 ?) 128mb in that form factor was not feasable or too expensive ?

Yellow1,

That is a possibility. I'll have to wait for mine to arrive before I can try to break the 80MB limit unless someone else here wants to try it out.

But I will also mention that while I can put 72MB into my Thinkpad (8MB on board, two 32MB slots), it will only recognize 64.

has anyone tried to go over the 80mb maximum with a 128mb edo module?

or perhaps upgrading the 16mb soldered onboard ram?

whether successful or not, any info would be nice.
