I don't have a 1200, but, check your bios settings for what modes if any are available, sometimes you need to set the slot to carbus mode (32 bit) for cards to work right. It might have an automatic mode and it does not detect the card properly.
Goof luck.

Yes, the s1200 will take CardBus/32-bit. The biggest problem that you will run into is finding drivers if your s1200 is still running Win95. Most CardBus (32-bit) card drivers are for Win98 and newer. If you can plug the card in and you hear a beep, you know that the machine will take 32-bit / Cardbus, as they will not fit all the way in the slot of a 16-bit only system. The cards and sockets are physically keyed to prevent a 3-volt cardbus card from being plugged all the way into a system that only knows about 5v cards (non-cardbus), so if it fits physically, you have cardbus slots. If you hear a single beep, that means that the drivers for the pcmcia slot chip can talk to the device. A second beep usually means that the specific card has been recognized and the driver for that card has loaded successfuly.
