File transfer from PC to Fujitsu 510

Just bought a fujitsu 510 tablet PC with windows 95 (german) as OS.
Now want to:
a. upgrade to windows 98 (english)
b. transfer files from PC to tablet.
Problem: the tablet has no FDD or CD-player or whatever other possibility to transfer files.

At the moment i tried to make work a file transfer progran (fastlynx) from PC to tablet (copy DOS-slave with a serial cable) but so far i didn't succeed.

Does anybody know how to make this work ?

Or perhaps have some other hints ?
Maybe i can make contact with a FDD by using a PCMCIA-card ?

Thanks,

You may also be able to transfer files by putting them on a CF card, and plugging it into a PCMCIA slot with an adapter.

Be warned that I had some problems trying to do this on a ThinkPad with Win95, but I never figured out whether the cause was bad drivers, or bad hardware on the "ebay special" Thinkpad. Run md5sum against the files to verify correct transfer.

But, if you can do it, rawker's idea is better: get the drive connected to a desktop machine. It's faster, easier, and you can back up the hard drive before experimenting.

The easy way to do this is to remove the HDD from the unit and use a 2.5"<->3.5" HDD converter. You can get them from Ebay very cheaply.

Different strokes for different folks.

Personally, I always use the IR port to transfer NIC driver files over to the 510. Then I install the PCMCIA NIC (usually an Orinoco wireless or a 3COM 3C589D).... and then use my local LAN for additional file transfers.

To install Win98SE.... I create a folder on the 510 that has the contents of the 98SE CD.... called a "flat folder". Then I do a local "upgrade" from 95 to 98. Works fine and has never failed (thankfully).
