Okay techno-electro wizards, help a brother out Okay, I've been researching my options on the 1200 I just picked up ($25 canadian) and like many others I'm without stylus, not a huge issue but I'd still like to pick one up. While looking at various options I found this post on another forum http://www.tempcity.com/dramanyc/index.php?showtopic=738&st=0&gopid=4736&#entry4736 that states that a pen for a cross pad can be used interchangably with the 1200...but it's discontinued however I was able to find this product that is in current production that looks to be very very similar (same people different company name?) http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1456377&CatId=140
and a reasonably priced replacement pen:

Too good to be true? Input? Thoughts?

Thanks,
Matt

Hey Matt, I have a DigiMemo pad (and love it). I'll try the pen out on my Sty1200, 2300, and Lt to see if they work. May do it tonight if I'm where my 'memo pad is. geekgranny

Well, I'm very sorry to inform that the DigiMemo pen does not work on the Stylistics that have battery pens. A real Sty pen will make the cursor jump even without touching the screen (Hence we can use the harsh weather cases with their thick plastic windows). The DM pen had no effect whatsoever on the active screens. The DM pen has an ink cartridge that writes on normal paper that is located over the DM surface. Now, I didn't take the ballpoint ink part off and replace with a stylus point because I didn't have a stylus point that would fit but I imagine it wouldn't work anyway. The removable end cap on the DM has a passive sylus BTW but that, of course, has no effect on the Stylistic 1200/2300 screens. Sorry. Good luck finding one. I have a couple of extra pens but I can't part with them because they are needed for replacments in case someone breaks a good one. They have a tendency to break off on the front barrel part that screws inside the back part that holds the battery. I can't recall for sure, but I think the pen made for the Stylistic 500s might work on the Sty1000's on up. They are possibly cheaper. If you can wait a bit more I can get the needed batteries, three tiny watch type, for the 500 pen and see if that works. I gave a bunch of 500's away last year and just recently ran into my small stash of 500 pens. I'll have to check with the person who got the 500's to see if he needs them; if not I might have a couple available. geekgranny

yes, the 500 stylus will work, and they are alot cheaper. i use the 500 stylus with my 1200. it's lighter and smaller than the 1200 stylus. the batteries are expensive, unless you pick them up on eBay or something. some stores around here charge up to $10 for 1 of the batteries, yet online you can pick them up in bulk, 10 for $10 (US). the only downside is that it doesn't fit in the standard pen holder. i guess it will technically fit, but it won't stay held in.

geekgranny, if you do have some 500s available, please email me. i'd like to pick up a spare. gutterslide@gmail
