Has anyone used this with a bar code reader

I am thinking of using the 1200 as a bar code reader in the kitchen. Then my wife can just scan empty cartons and get a shopping list that can be transfered to a palm. Has anyone tried this computer with a wedge bar code reader? Does anyone know of some software that I can use to query a database with the UPC? I have seen a fair amount of point of purchase software available but that is like using a sledge to drive a tack. I don't really want to do inventory control, just generate a shopping list.

This may be a GOOD reason for the wife to allow a few more purchases of (ahem) really useful COMPUTERS!!!

for information. Note the former can be set up to work with a cuecat.

They each use forms for submission of UPC info, so you could potentially write your own scripts/pages to submit information to the server.
