Just got my 1200 today. I was wondering if anybody else had a loud HD that makes a rhythmic scratching sound. I tried to install it into my desktop to drop Win98 on and half way thru set up it started making the noise. Now I can't get it to detect anywhere. I don't mind running out and getting a new one if this one is broken- but I wanted to see if anybody else had this problem.
Just an update for anyone who has a problem with the HD that they get with the 1200.
Most of them are still under warranty. Mine was warrantied until the end of this year. I sent in the broken one to Toshiba and they sent me a new one- it took them a month, but at least I got it.
