so the toshiba 256mb mini-sd cards arrived today and I played at wiring the mini-sd to sd adapter. fluxed the hell out of the contacts and laid down minimal pads then patiently soldered some fd cabling into them. plastic melted a little but not as much as I expected and the ersatz socket worked on the first try.
oh my friend's coldheat dealie was entirely useless mainly for the largeness of the tip. then again I did this with a cheap ratshack iron which was hardly better. I really need to shell out for a decent weller or hakko or something.
