Questions about the Juice box

Ok i just joined here, and i have been looking to get and modify the juicebox. It looks like a pretty cool thing to tinker around with. My real main goals are to install an sd slot into the juicebox and be able to play actual videos on it. Ive been trying to read though all these posts describing this and i understand this is probably a common question, but i do feel overwhelemd with all the different things i must do, download, or write code or whatever it may be. Im having a hard time finding a strait answer to this question. How can i take a juicebox with an sd card slot, and make it play a form of video, with sound, off of my SD card? There is some type of linux that must go onto here if i understand correctly, and im not too sure how to install it? Do i put a program on my sd card, and run it onto the juicebox, or is it more involved, do i have to type code into the actual juicebox, im really not sure. I find many links to outside sources that show pictures and a very vauge description of what i have to do. A step by step procedure would be great, though i know that it might not be available.
Thanks a lot for all the help.

you can't. nobody has done it yet (well, has been done if you use the "search function" common in many foruns, but not published since the author doesn't want the obvious problems with the law, although he gave us egnouth clues to do it) since the built in player does not read videos, because no code can be boot from SD and because the video carts are nand flash memory with a proprietary player and boot code that loads on powerup, displaying the video.

Hey, it's late 2009 and I was wondering if the situation has changed. I would love to be able to play some homebrew video on one of these for the kids.

Thanks.

I think your best bet is to do the hack the MP3 kit SD cart and use FatJBox as described in the Wiki. This will allow you to run your custom software on the Juicebox. I have written some very basic graphics routines, but nothing with sound or the sophistication to play video. If this were to be done, I think that videos would have to be converted to a simpler format before being played on the Juicebox, as I don't think the hardware is fast enough to decode typical formats like .mpeg, etc.
