Buying a Juice Box? Which is Which? Check the package!
Does it play >128kbps MP3s? What firmware does it have? You may be able to tell from the package!

I just picked up a few in Target on clearance and I noticed a few subtle differences in the packaging. I got one Grey w/LED, one Red w/o LED, and one Blue w/o LED.

The differences I can see so far:

Red/Blue(NO LED):

Package Front:
Says "MP3 & JPEG COMPATIBLE! (Requires Mattel MP3 Starter Kit #H4448. Available soon.)"
Says "M-CHIP INCLUDED" on swoop/arc near chip
Label with snowboarder applied on top of flip cover, covering JUICE BOX(tm) logo

Package Back:
H4352-0980 in top left corner
Polygon symbol(??) above words "EXTERNAL SPEAKER" on far right
Refers to "M-CHIP" in blurb and diagram shows "MEDIA-CHIP SLOT"
UPC# 0-27084-23647-7

Grey(W/LED)

Package Front:
(tm) near "TURN ON THE JUICE!" slogan
Says "MP3 & JPEG COMPATIBLE! (Requires Juice Box(tm) MP3 Starter Kit #H4448. Available soon.)"
Says "JUICEWARE(TM) CHIP INCLUDED" on swoop/arc near chip
Label with snowboarder applied under flip cover, JUICE BOX(tm) logo visible

Package Back:
H3906-0980G1 in top left corner
Refers to "JUICEWARE(tm) MEDIA-CHIP" in blurb and diagram shows "JUICEWARE(tm) SLOT"
Under product photo, "Colors and decorations may vary"
UPC# 0-27084-23331-5

If anyone cares, maybe I can get some photos of the major differences and that weird little polygon symbol. I know for a fact that the Grey version has Production Test Ver. 2.6, I'll have to look at the others.

Cool. Open them up and see what's inside, especially the gray one. I've not heard about that color before, possibly a Target exculsive? All the ones with LED so far have been the newer 2MB model, but maybe this one is different.

It also has the 2MB SDRAM.

I just got back from Target today, and noticed that there are Red & Blue With LED versions there that have markings that seem to be a mix of the two that I've cataloged above. For example, they refer to the "Mattel MP3 Starter Kit" on the front, instead of "Juiceware(tm) MP3 Starter Kit". They also have "H3906-0980G4" in the top left corner on the back of the package. I didn't think to look at the UPC code, tho.
