Homebrew MMC cart
discussion about creating a homemade mmc/sd cartridge

does anyone think it would be worthwhile to post a howto on creating a homebrew mmc/sd cart? seeing how they seem to be getting harder to find, it might be the only option for some people.

Sounds like a good idea to me.

there's plenty of MMC cards on eBay. they're the only cards that nokia phones take.

SD is probably the most popular memory format right now, along with CF

rygo,

its not finding sd or mmc cards that is the issue. its finding the sd/mmc cartridge for the juicebox that is the issue. and although the juicebox mp3 kit ships with a sd card, the cartridge only uses the standard spi mmc interface, the lines needed to use the special sd features are not connected.

A good bit of time has passed, and no activity here - has anyone figured out how to homebrew an SD or MMC card adapter for this thing?

all the info to do the adapter has been posted already, just not pulled together in a single howto. the pinout for the interface has been posted, and the schematic for the sd/mmc cart has been posted, so all you need is a sd/mmc slot from something like a sd/mmc->usb adapter to make your own. if i get some time this weekend, i'll see about getting some notes together.

thanks

I will design a circuit board and provide them for the SD card interface if there is a way to get the CoB versions to load code from it.

I would really like to use the JuiceBox for some simple projects, but I have 5 of the CoB ROM versions... I also have 5 of the SD card interfaces.
