Hi all, Ive recently become fascinated with this little device from what Ive seen online and am going to pick up a few to hack in to. I had a few questions first of all. I did search through all the posts and some of them were answered, but I apologize in advance for any regurgitation.

First of all, is there any real difference between the colors? Ive seen red, blue, green, and grey on ebay, are any of them different on the inside as well, as in does one color tend to be a different firmware or more hackable than another? Sorry if thats a dumb question, but Ive done a bit of CVS camera hacking (a very small bit), and if any of you have done that too, then you know what a big difference a little color can make ;)

Next, where do I want to begin with this? I looked through a lot of the wiki and gathered that one of the first steps to take is to replace their version of Linux with another one to gain easier access to everything else, is this correct? Is there a good complete walkthough on this process, because if there is, then Ive overlooked it as everything seems to be scattered about in bits and pieces across these forums and the wiki and other peoples sites.

Sorry again for any bother, I was just really curious about these things. Once I get started I do hope to help contribute some actual useful stuff as I have a few good ideas for using and modifying them. Thanks

Color doesn't really matter. There were far more Lime Green JBs in the first run with 8MB of RAM, than they were in the second 2MB RAM run, at least from reports and my experience. So, if you're buying sight-unseen, shoot for a Lime Green if you think you'll need the additional RAM, otherwise don't worry.

There is no really complete walk-through right now. The closest right now is the new cartridge page on the wiki, which tells you how to flash an image to the XD card through JTAG. Right now, you have to be good with both hardware and software hacking to get far with the JuiceBox. This is one of the reasons there hasn't been much done with them yet on this forum. If there was a simple hardware hack and a way to get the image onto the card, the software people could play around with it far easier. If there was a simple script to create an image for the XD with one's own programs, or an image that could load programs from MMC automatically, that would let hardware people play around with it easier. If both were available, application people and hackers looking for an easy hack would make this box dance and sing.
