Is there anywhere to add a processor fan on the ipaq? From the pics on http://www.linux-hacker.net/ipaq/, I can't see one. If I wanted to upgrade the processor to a K6-2+, is there a place I could plug in a fan to help dissipate heat, or would it not be needed?

I added a fan to my IA-1. You need to take out the OEM heat sink, run to Rat-shack and buy a fan/heat sink for a socket 7. Then you need to tap into the power wires for the mother board (Red, Yellow, Black) and you got a running fan for your IA-1. I also took the speaker out of mine, so I am unsure if it will hit if you don't.
As for the chip upgrade....i didn't wannna touch that, LOL.
