I am not sure where you want to do a ctrl-U. If you are talking about doing that on the ipaq with msn companion running, I don't think it would work.
If you have another computer, download jailbait, and put it on a compact flash card, and try that method. I think you asked a question about that in a different thread, and I responded to it. The directions there should be easy to follow for anyone, including a linux newbie (which I am). I knew nothing about it when I got those directions (and I still know almost nothing about linux) so they should work well for you.
