XFree86 4.x config for IA-1?
Trying to get XF86 4.x working.

I have NetBSD working on an IA-1. While everyone else is trying to get a nice minimal 16MB
system, I'm using the onboard flash to load a kernel - and then doing everything over NFS. So, no space shortages...

Anyway, I can't get XF86 4.1 to work on this display. It always rejects the 800x600 mode because there's "no mode of that name", even though I have one in my XF86Config. So, it tries to set the display to 640x480, it fails, and it ends up making the display go black until I reset the unit.

Anyone done this successfully?

- way to go! i *love* NetBSD, especially on my IBM Z50...

- are you trying any modelines (which IIRC, can still be used w/XFree86 4.+)?

Mind posting a brief walkthrough on what you did to get it booting NetBSD via the network, I'm trying to get FreeBSD netbooting on a test machine (Waiting for my IA-1 to arrive) and am running up against a nasty limitation in that it FreeBSD won't bring up USB devices till after the kernel's loaded and you run usbd. If you got by this with NetBSD I may be able to use the same trick for FreeBSD.

I got it working - my problem was that it won't go in 24-bit color, at least not with this particular version of XF86 (4.1.0).

As to "how did I get NetBSD on it", I'll be posting that on port-i386, as well as on http://www.seebs.net/hack/ or something near it.
