I would de interested - assuming it could run Terminal Services. $40 sounds about right.

Lonny,

That sounds cool, but I would be more interested in the Compaq MSN Companion IA-2. This seems to have the same main circuit board as the eMachines unit, only the IA-2 has a built-in 15" monitor. I would be willing to spend about $80-$100 for one of these to hack.

Thanks for asking our opinions.

Lonny,

Do these units have an IDE header internally. Can a Laptop HD be
installed..??

Thanks,

Hey guys... Just an update...

Wa-hey ... I was beginning to think you'd forgotten about us ! 24.99 sounds good, 19.99 even better (how about 24.99 for one-off, and 19.99 for qty, eg multiples of 5)

What sort of numbers are you expecting - presumably not as many as the Audrey ? (seem to remember reading there were 'thousands' of these)

99 for the IA-1 is also sweet. Are they new or refurbs ?

Keep up the good work, Skip

The IA-1s are refurbs, but I got one (of course) and it was like new in the box. Also, they list several "approved" USB adapters, but I used a previously listed D-Link version which works great.

Don't know what's gonna happen on the eMachines. We may get a "test" quantity, but according to MSN, there are some issues with the eMachines unit being reliable for use with MSN (like the people here care). We'll see what happens....
