LinkSys USB100M unrecognized

New MessageLinkSys USB100M unrecognized (modified 0 times) RatBastard

I've got Rasmus' Linux image 2 running, but can't get my USB NIC to initialize.

I purchased the linksys usb100m (info here) believing it to be pegasus-based.

The kernel responds "USB device 3 (vend/prod 0xbda/0x8150) is not claimed by any active drivers."

Clearly, it's not being recognized by the driver, even if it is pegasus based. I ran some USB diagnostic software on it in w2k looking for mention of chipset, but haven't had any luck.

www.linux-usb.org doesn't mention those vendor/device id's. My guess is that this device is quite new, and hasn't made it into code yet.

I've sent this to Rasmus, but I realized that I may as well plumb the wisdom of the board.

Does anyone have any ideas?

As noted here on the linux-usb site, it's not a pegasus chipset device, but an "acm" device.

This is "Abstract Control Module" -- which seems to be largely related to modems. It doesn't make sense to me that a USB ethernet adapter by linksys (when they already use pegasus) would be using a fundamentally different design like that.

Does anyone have any ideas?

I have yet to re-compile the pegasus.o with the appropriate vendor/product codes, so I suppose that's the real test.
