I ordered my IA-1 via TigerDirect, then bought an Edimax 10/100 USB ethernet adapter via Ebay for $4 (with $6.50 shipping).

From opening the case to getting online with Jailbait was about two, maybe two and a half hours, and that's while chatting with my girlfriend at the same time.

I opened her up (not the girlfriend, the IA-1), shorted the pin, rebooted, and watched the memory count. My brother and I cheered. Then I yanked the power cord, closed the case up, and it rebooted to MSN without allowing me into the BIOS. "WTF?" I thought.

I believe that rebooting without editing the BIOS settings sets it right back to the way it was. I'm not totally sure, though. Anyway, I just repeated the process and changed some BIOS settings and I was golden.

Anyway, I prepared my CF. Just like someone else posted, I had to change it to VFAT FAT-16 with LBA to get it to boot. Copied the image over with Dolly, rebooted, blam!

Of course, the distro has some issues; you can't do much of anything unless you're root, and you can't SU to root from the base user that gets created.

But after answering the initial networking questions, I was online!

I started X and browsed to this site by name.

You guys all rock!

Thanks,
G

Yeah, you need to recompile and replace tinylogin on the image to fix the su problem, and the rxvt pty issue is solved by mounting /dev/pts. See http://php2.chek.com/~rasmus

As soon as I get some time I will put a new image together with these fixes and get it up. Or if someone else has applied these fixes and has a nice clean image, please send it to me and I will put that up. (hint, remove /etc/configured before creating the image)
