Just Ordered a Brand new BIOS for IA-2

Just ordered a few BIOS chips for my IA-2

Wondered if any IA-1 users who have BIOS trouble could post the model number of there bios chip so can see if it is the same as mine...you will have to peel off the sticker to get the proper numbers should be an atmel AT49F002NT...Please let me know if the IA-1 has this same BIOS model Im pretty sure it does..

I have done lot of reading these past few days.. here is supporting documentation on why we cant get into the BIOS:

ftp://ftp.generationxcomputing.com/appliance/

Here you find two documents that go into great detail about the BIOS and SuperIO chip found on the IA-2 and most likey the same BIOS is in the IA-1.

I'm not sure off hand, but I think the IA-1 and the I-Opener have the same bios chip. When I has last inside my IA-1 I vaguely remember seeing a SST part.

On the note of the I-Openers, there are two simular parts, one has a 12v write and the stock has a 5v write. I have been using the 12v write part for months with great success. The idea behind using the 12v write is that the bios can not be flashed on board by some sneaky program... too bad the IA-1 has the bios chip soldered to the board.

I don't know if this is of any help, but that's my 2 cents.

So what does the 12v write do for me? I think I fried this BIOS doing the 12v Reset that is described in the Bios doc available at ftp://ftp.generationxcomputing.com/appliance
it is in very readable PDF format. Can you take a look at it for me and tell me how I might reset this BIOS? Also the new BIOS chips I ordered are not blank are they?

How did you write to your BIOS that you described in your post?

Unfortunately, scarebear... it appears that you have a version that does not support the 12V reset. According to the pdf, under "Boot Block Programming Lockout Override": it states "This feature is not available on the AT49F002NT".

Can anyone who has a resetable BIOS, who is willing to take a peek, confirm that they indeed have an "AT49F002T"? (Notice the missing "N")
