I just received 2 ipaq -1a machines. Does any one on this board do upgrades for other people (for a price of course)? After reading many of the threads, I see it appears to be somewhat of a hit or miss on this stuff. I am looking to have these units get ethernet access to my inhouse lan. They need to run DHCP and have a browser. Don't need much more. I also hope that they will boot right into the browser (not sure by the threads if one needs to enter Linux codes all the time or just when building the machine. If anyone is interested or knows of someone, please reply. Thanks
I have just finished putting together a system that does exactly what you describe. plug in one cable to network, second cable to electricity, and walla, a 'failsafe' netscape browsing machine ... loads netscape automatically, like a kiosk.
Hey Root - can you make known the config changes you had to do to get a "kiosk" set up? I'd like a similar setup but am not sure what the best way to go about it is. Thanks.
Yeah, if only the browser was stable. Sometime after Jan.7 when I get back home to my regular army of machines I will be able to set up a proper build environment to build various browsers. And perhaps take a shot at a completely new build based on gbootroot (http://gbootroot.sourceforge.net)
