The inside of the base unit has a date stamp of 9/6/2000. The serial number is 1V0AFB735F23. It came in the red and white compaq box. Clearing the BIOS causes it to display the memory count on startup, and then the 162 error, but hitting the Compaq key doesn't do anything.

What are people doing with the non-hackable ones? Is it worth buying another in the hopes of getting a hackable unit, or are they all coming out this way now?
