Hello-
I've managed to get XMMS and GAIM working with the IA-1. It works pretty well. I have photos of it running xmms below. I'll have pictures of it with gaim if you really want it. =P
I guess it's time I got off my duff and stopped waiting for things to "stablize" a bit more than they are. I've been waiting for the next Rasmus image. :) Additionally, I've been waiting for someone to decode a method for applying the MSNCv2 updates without having to use the modem. :) Guess I'll just back up with Dolly and press forward.
I hope Rasmus can integrate a more stable browser into the confined 16MB CF so that I can use it as a web terminal in addition to a network MP3 player. :)
Hehehe... I cheated... Both gaim and xmms are located on a NFS mounted partition. =D I have my IA-1 on a dedicated subnet with a one-version-behind Slackware Linux 7.1 box. The Linux box is hosting NFS. I'm using 7.1 instead of 8.0 because it uses glibc 2.1 -- the version of libc mandrake 6.1 was based off of.
I have yet to master the art of rebuilding cramfs images, so I'm still working on that. It would be possible to have both gaim and xmms on there after I tear out that PoS email client....
I cheated on that, too. =D I have /usr/lib on my slackware box mounted on /mnt/lib on the IA-1. I've updated the ld.so.conf with the new path and updated the cache. It's worked pretty well thus far. Yay. :)
