Microcrap does not want anyone to use anything but there software. It might cut into there monopoly if windows could see partitions or files from another operating system. Linux can see windows partitions and files just fine. But Windows can't and won't see Linux partitions without a special program that is expensive. RE:Is it possible to mount WinX drives in Jailbait over a network (modified 0 times) thinker Profile The jailbait itself has no suitable daemon to be used for mounting, except possibly NFS, but I don't believe that the rasmus image has NFS server support compiled into the kernel. If it does, there are several NFS client programs you can use as a "demo." If you already have an NFS share mounted on your jailbait, you can always run smbd from there. 01-08-2002 19:47:08

The typical mount command is: mount 1.2.3.4:/remote/share /mnt/localMountPoint -osoft,intr,ro -tnfs Change the parameters (ro to rw) as necessary. I have the UNIX compatibility kit saved away here. Download DiskShare 4.0 (cnet.com has it). This allows full function NFS file sharing from WinNT or W2K. I am listening to MP3's served from my W2K machine on the IA1 as I type. There are a few of them out there. But, more importantly, I have to correct that bit of misinformation above. It IS possible to mount linux drives on Windows machines and vice versa. It's quite easy. You use Samba to do it. Unfortunately, Samba isn't included in the jailbait distro (but NFS is). It's certainly something that should be considered in future distros. 01-23-2002 20:56:05
