I have an emachines msn companion but no power adapter to use it with. I know it needs 15 volts, but what about amps? Where can I get one? How much? Any ideas? Anyone have one they would want to sell??? Thanks.

It may be cheaper to get a 100watt power
inverter from radio shack, go from 12 ->120 and feed that puppy through the MSN companion. I have an inverter that I use when I go camping, its a small one that is
about the size of a D cell flashlight. I'll check and see if it boots and if I get noise in the audio or video. I did boot my company assigned laptop up in my truck last summer without a problem. I folded up the laptop
and had the video off, it was my Mpeg player
for a few days. No whine!

I'm outside the Boston/New York area... I never heard of HSC Electronics? What are they? in a bad anology, are they like Rat Shack, but many times better or something?
On a side note: does anyone know where I can get small 120/240 to 5VDC @ 1.5A _regulated_ power supplies cheap? If I would get those little switcher IOmega jobbies, that should work too... Any Ideas?
Thanks!

You could just buy a used power supply for a Cisco ADSL router. I know that 675 ADSL modems are not used anymore ( = cheap ) and they have very nice 5 V regulated power supplies that work from 100 - 240 VAC. Check it out on eBay....
HSC is a west-coast electronics distributor. take a look at any recent copy of Nuts and Volts magazine, Poptronics, or just go to their web site at http://www.halted.com they're a great source for all sorts of things, IMHO . . .
