Would be nice to have A function way for it to store and retrive text files. It also has as much as the ipaqh36xx and familars.org is able to do streaming audio and video on the smaller unit"there can be only 1" as heard at closed boardmeeting by Gill Bates
A memory map of the IA-1 would nice for us programmers! I'd like to write code that will actually flash the mail light if we have mail. Flash the informaiton light if we get
urgent mail or whatever. I am working on
a powerdown utility that will get called when the power switch is hit. I'd also like to get the memory location to write to turn off
the display light when in sleep mode.
I'm working on mapping the special button on the keyboard. First I need to get xmms running. I may run peanut linux since I am not used to dealing with cramfs.
I have currently got Smalledit and Cooledit working on unit.MY /usr/home directorys are on my cf slot card this allows me to save and store without having everthing go away I used it this weekend for charactor sheets during a marathon DND game oh yea the menus are able to be edited to put what I wanted there so that I didnt have to go look for them all over the place so that is getting more like a real portable and less crippled a small calculator and external usb cf reader/writer that works would be good I currently have a scan disk also allows mp3's from a different disk while working
PS any luck with the power key in linux?

Jerryn, if you provide us with information on how to obtain a memory map, or simply what it is (more specifically), perhaps I can help you out. Thanks.
A Memory map is the memory addresses of
devices on the unit. Probably the best resource to get it would be Compaq. Since there's only 32MB on the box I wonder if they are using address lines to interface with the mail light, information light ...etc.
I don't know if there's a program to run that will map out the hardware. Maybe there's some sort of "open spec" for this product. I don't know. Or maybe if we disassemble the original code for this unit we can produce
some sort of memory map.
I don't have my CE code, The first thing I did after I blew away the cmos was to load
jailbait onto the internal Sandisk.
hey spent all night read every file in jailbait distro on my IA-1 damm time wont set right rtc not understandible got calctools up and running real calculator using a lot of debian stuffthere is a keyboard scan to figure it out but a gain it doesnt get usable data from itsself tried an x keyboard mapper half of the keys dont work at anything
