IA-1Modem problem and ' Error Opening OS image...'

I received a refurb'ed IA-1 from TD and have encountered the following problems when trying to do an upgrade to v2.0:

After doing the Ctrl-U and getting to the dialup config screen and updating the correct info (including removing the 's' from https) I began trying out different dial-up numbers. The modem dials out ok and dialed moden answers and begins the sync-up but the connection never complete. I've tried the local msn number and others (such as earthlink and UUNet's 1-888 numbers someone else posted) and the scenario is the same.

It seems once I have elected the upgrade I can no longer get the IA-1 to boot up normally and receive the following errors:

Error Opening OS file C:NK0 .BIN
Error Opening OS file C:NK1 .BIN
Error Opening OS file C:NK0 .BIN
Please call technical support at (888) 386-6497

Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated

I had the same thing on one of mine and found the 's' had apparently restored itself. After re-editing, it updated fine. Go back through the Ctrl-U rigmarole and remove the 's' from https:\ in the last box if it's there, reboot, then try again.

Picus - No luck, the dial-up config had not reset to https

I do know that this is a hackable IA-1 bios as I've done the paperclip trick and can now access the bios setup. My problem is I purchased one for my mother in FWB, FL. for Christmas and didn't check in advance to see if MSN had a local dialup -- which the don't! So she's got to use the "open ISP" option with MSN and a local provider. To boot she has to upgrade to version 2.0. She'd called MSN last tuesday and the person she spoke to said he'd call he back in a couple of days. Which didn't -- no surprise, right? My bottom line is I want to go thru the upgrade process so I can walk her through it and get her hooked up w/email, etc. before I go hack my system any further.

TIA
Bill

ensure it's http not https and change the Compaq-1-1 string to Compaq-2-1. You might have to try it a couple times but it will work. I also got the OS error but kept trying and the second time I tried it it worked

I've tried modifying the dialup screen to read 2-1 in the post field and get the same results. It dials and handshake starts but I never get a connection. I've confirmed that the https read http, I'm at a loss what to do. Does anyone else have any suggestions?

Thx

I bought a IA1 off ebay and it has this error message on boot up
Error Opening OS file C:NK0 .BIN
Error Opening OS file C:NK1 .BIN
Error Opening OS file C:NK0 .BIN

...I have a MSN account and I would like to use it, but I can't get pass this error...I did the ctrl U thing and put my MSN user name and password and local MSN phone # in, it would dial and connect for a minute or so then dial again about twice they say try agian or cancel. I think there may be something wrong in the URL or the post data fields. I have tired several of the one I see posted here, and one stayed connected for over two hours and did not get past the point were it said connecting so I do not think it ever put on the new version of the OS. Any suggestion? MSN or Compaq tech support is will not help said the unit was out of warranty three days. I am not trying to hack this thing just trying to get it to work with MSN.
