Compaq IA-2, Proview IPAD and BeIA 1.0 -- Now what?

Has anyone noticed the similarities between the Proview IPAD (http://www.proviewintl.com/IA/ipad.htm) and the Compaq IA-2? There are some minor differences in the motherboard but they look quite similar. My Compaq IA-2 (missing compaq label) has the MSN software (no details yet), and the Proview's had BeIA 1.0. I have been able to switch the DoC between the two devices to have the IA-2 running BeIA.

Unfortunately, I am quite unfamiliar with BeIA, and even more unfamiliar with DoC methodology. First, I need to get the image off the DoC I'm sure, but can I use the BeOS public release to modify the image? Or should I forgo tinkering with BeIA and go straight to Jailbait on the IA-2 -- haven't seen much about that on this forum yet...

I'm sure that everyone would like to have another BeIA image to play with if you could figure out how to get it off of there.
Have you got into the bios yet?
Where did you buy this IPAD?
Later,
Carbon

First, I got the IPAD at the Be auction. No one else bid on it, and I blurted something out and I became the proud owner of a couple. They do take a good deal of closet space.

I have not been able to get into the BIOS via keyboard methods -- however, I have not yet attempted to clear the CMOS because they boot now, and without having an idea of how to enter configuration I'd rather not change that.

So far I've been finding out how much of a joy it is to try and create a bootable CF image -- the IPAD will APPEAR to boot from the image and sit there at the BIOS screen (different from the IA-2 which just has the Compaq Boot logo). When an improperly formatted image is used, the IPAD will notify me of an Invalid System Disk. Once I get this figured out, I think I'll be able to dump the BeIA image off.

scythic:

it's not a FAT-12 versus FAT-16 issue, is it? bball and ranman discovered this issue some time back, formatting a bootable CF for the IA-1. Ranish Partition Manager cured it, just fine. FAT-12 is great for 1.44 megabyte floppies, but sux for 16 or 32 meg CF "disks"...

hope this helps.

This sounds more similar to the Audrey than the IA-1. The audrey's are based on the NatSemi Geode cpu.
