Midori startup scripts...?
Where to put things?

Ok... I've gotten my NFS mount in the init script located in /tmp/config/local/sbin, and a simple script in the same directory to start my slideshow, so its pretty quick. But I'd like the slideshow to start automatically after boot-up. X hasn't initialized yet so putting it in "init" won't work... Is there an "init" file which can be written to without making my own image, that gets run after X is started?

(for those that are crawling along the same path as me: You can modify the "init" file in the above directory from the rxvt root terminal available from localhost in opera. If you then use the Store Configuration option also available from localhost, the changes will be saved. I may have had to modify the file so it was executable also...)

Also - I'm using xli for the slideshow, but I know I've seen references to using fbi instead, but can't get it to work. When I searched thru the board I couldn't find the fbi references! Would it be better to use fbi, and if so... how?

Thanx,

Eric

I don't think that's possible without rebuilding the image, but I will make it possible in the next one.

If xli is working for you, I wouldn't worry about fbi. It's just an another option.

I look forward to your next release then! And thanx for sharing your work so far - without it I wouldn't be at a point where I feel I've gotten a successful hack!

Thanx again Wes!

the problem with fbi is that we cant easily switch between virtual consoles and the x session... it would be nice if the extra keys on the top were mapped to control keys so we could switch (also when opera crashes). I don't want to seem ungrateful but I don;t know how to set up key mappings and if that got fixed in the next image it would be cool. It actualy worked with ramus image. Speaking of a new image, is there something that could be done about opera, why does it work so weird and why don't the back and forward buttons work? Does it need to write to the disk to work?

Actually, Opera does just fine if you turn on the history. File->Preferences, then in the Network box, enable History and Window History (alt-y, alt-i) and it remembers them just perfectly.

However, the existing image can't write the prefs to disk, so every time Opera crashes (frequently, but less frequently than, say, Netscape used to...) you have to turn them back on. The fact that the GUI buttons are enabled if the history is turned off seems to be just sloppy programming from the Opera team.
