Another BeIA image

I just got another IA and believe it is a Clipper. The image is slightly different than the other two BeIA images already available, closer to the 2nd version. It has a built-in ethernet which worked immediately with my DSL connection.

Did you get an actual clipper, or just the image off one?

How different is it ? Don't all the Clippers have onboard ethernet anyway ?
can you do alt+q to access the desktop ?
If yes look at the name of the version in "about".

The unit is Blue, does not say Clipper anywhere, might just be one of the development units. I will try to get an image off, but I believe it's very similiar to the 2nd BeIA available. When I click on "About BeOS" nothing happens. But I can get to the desktop with Alt Q.

(By the way, I will be selling my original IA-1 that is hackable and currently is running Midori for $100. + shipping if anyone is interested)

Just curious, how'd you manage to grab a clipper? Also, can you take some pictures of it, I'd like to get something for ia1hacking.com

If you could kindly open it up and take some _HIGH RESOLUTION_ pictures of the motherboard, it would be appreciated. I emphasise high resolution since most of the pictures up until now have been relativly low resolution and totally useless for reading what chips are on the board. I would like to find out what additional chip are on board for ethernet. I suspect it's probably some cheapie chip like a Crystal LAN, but I would like to see what's on the clipper board and the support chips for it. If you could email thinker-ia1@falcons2000.com, I would REALLY appreciate it. :)

I tried to make an image of the internal flash, but there already was a 32mb CF installed. After I removed it and replaced it with a CF with Dolly, the system started with BeIA Ver 1.0 not the custom copy. I reinserted the 32mb CF and got the error invalid system disk. That custom image use to start-up with the message "loading stinger", don't get that message anymore.

Also, the internal is 32mb not 16mb and I believe Airman already provided that image.

I will try to take pictures this weekend, but I didn't need to open it to access the bios so the pictures of the motherboard might take a little time until I have a chance to open it up.

I took some quick pictures, taking pictures of the screen are a problem. When I get the time I will crack it open and take pictures of the motherboard.

I added some photos of the motherboard. You need to click on "full size"

Curious,

Did you get any further with this unit? I just got one, but apparently it doesn't have the Stinger image onboard. I get into a plain UI with just a hand-styled mouse cursor and no amount of poking around seems to do any good so far.

Any clues appreciated.

What are you trying to do? I haven't used it for a while, but all the BE images worked fine and I was able to connect thru my router.

Curious,

I assume you loaded them via the CF slot. I've been trying to run them from the internal DoC after loading from the reflash utility. See other threads for details of how I did that.
