Adding Ethernet to IA-1

Took a look at new clipper picutres posted.

seems like adding ethernet shouldn't be too far fetched. here is the info on the filter module:
( Pulse B6006L)

http://www.pulseeng.com/pdf/2961.pdf

I am guessing the ethernet controller is AMD pdf79c978:

Hum. If its a Home/10BaseT design, wonder if any parts missing could be salvages from a NIC card with the same chipset etc? Wold be better than the USB connection but would require driver to run it.

The photos are at: (curtesy of curious)

Clicking on the pictures provides a high resulation image, which allow reading the print on some of the components. enjoy!

there also two of these right by the ethernet jack:

Does anyone have the classic bios? I want to try it in my IA-1.

Thanks for the pics, they are great.

However, I don't see the NIC anywhere, just the Pulse magnetics.

Does anyone know where the NIC chip lives? Is it on the bottom, or perhaps is it on the card with the Modem? This would seem to make sense -- it could be a mini-PCI card (type 2).

Any help appreciated.

Thanks.

The pictures I took included the bottom side of the modem card with the numbers. I don't think its a combo card but you can check with the specs.

In any case, if anyone has "seen" the NIC in the Clipper, please let me know where it is.

Thanks!
