greetings all:

i have been unsucessful in getting my microdrive to be bootable on the ia-1.

under win98se, using ranish i have created a bootable primary partition, formated the drive, set the boot to be standard ipl. ranish wizard made partition as partition entry 2, not in the first. ???
reboot.
did a sys d:\.
browsing to the disk, i see it has the nec'y system files to simply boot dos.
shut down the pc.

insert the microdrive, boot up, f10 to get to the bios.
reports that it added disk 1 (15M) disk2 (340M)

set the bios in the ia-1 to boot the 3rd drive first, the second second then the floppy 3rd.
1a-1 reboots, then it complains that it it is missing the operating system.

i have tried deleting, recreating partitions, making them bootable, making more than one partition.

what am i missing?
