My new Blue CE1000 arrived with today's mail, and I've already tried the paperclip trick with no joy. I got the 162 error, indicating that this is supposed to be one of the "unhackables".
However, while screwing around, I found something that apparently no-one else has previously reported. Try this:
1) Plug power in, and wait until the cursor appears. Unplug the power at this point. You will land in the BeIA Flash recovery screen.
2) Select from English, French and Spanish
3) Select recovery option, rather than reboot option.
4) Select ethernet, and (assuming it's connected) it will autoconfigure for the current connection.
From here, you can see that the system was designed to be reflashed across the internet!! This could be quite useful for new users if a working image can be set up at a known location. The day of the paperclip may even be gone if this works.
Have fun!
