I recently had a technician at work swap the BIOS chip on my unhackable IA-1. Just to be sure, I had him pull the known good BIOS from my hackable IA-1. I put the replacement BIOS from badflash on the old IA-1.
Now, the hackable IA-1 popped right up and booted. Of course, it essentially had the same BIOS as before - just on a different chip. The unhackable unit refuses to boot. I didn't socket the BIOS on the unhackable unit, as I had hoped to keep it "clean". As such, I haven't tried swapping the chips back. I did try to clear the CMOS RAM, but it still refuses to power up.
Has anyone who has tried the chip replacement method got any ideas? I asked the tech to look over the solder joints one more time, just to be sure - but I'd like to know if there are any other gotcha's here.
