Amateur in need of help. I had previously put the jailbait image on my IA-1 and now am trying to install the WWW Midori image. I've made my bootable CF, inserted into the IA-1, turned it on and accessed the bios. Before entering the bios, the IA-1 tells me that it's found two drives, giving the size in MB of the internal and external disks. But in the bios, my only choice of drives to boot from is "floppy disk a:". So, having no other choice, I choose this, and when I reboot, jailbait loads up from the internal disk. Is there something that I did when installing jailbait that now needs to be undone before I can boot from the external CF?

Thanks for any assistance.

Avi

Your CF card isn't being recognized. If it were, it would show up as drive D: This is true regardless of whether or not the disk is formatted. Since you mention you have flashed the unit with jailbait, I would suspect the card instead of the slot.

One other note, you may have to "soft-boot" by holding the power button to get the system to "see" the drive. This is true for microdrives, which draw more current, but it might do the trick for your recalcitrant CF card. Also, if, and *ONLY* if,your CF card is 5V tolerant, you can increase detection reliability by bumping up the slot Vcc to 5V by lifting the Vcc leads and jumpering to a nearby serial port. Note: this will fry a 3.3V only device - so use caution once you have performed this mod.
