I wrote this in another thread but its kinda dead and I dont think people are reading it any more...

If the IA1 has a CF Type II socket then I think this will solve all your probs about the hard drives...its a little more costly...but one heck of a headache and time saver...Plus its as neat as can be....(Not to mention easily portable to your larger system should you not have a network to exchange data in your house)

(This link is to buy IBM microdrives on CF II cards...up to 1 gig in capacity...)

If anyone knows the CompacFlash socket type...please share with the group...if its a type II...I will buy one of these and test...if it works I will let you all know.

Thanks and Good Luck!!!

The IA-1 has a CompactFlash Type II slot that is certainly compatible with Microdrives. Quite a few people (myself included) are using them in their units already, see older threads in this board (and/or use search function for "microdrive").

I posted this over at "News, Breaking News" but it's relevant here, too . . .

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?sku=T24-1100%20P

Con:
1. it's Tigger Duh-wrecked -- you have been warned
2. while supplies last - same as everyone else
3. there's no rebate, the price is $89

Pro:
1. $90 for 2 GB PC Card HDD is fair, IMHO
2. My Compaq IA-1 has been waiting for this...

So, if you're really wanting to get one, this is another possible source.
