Restoring hacked IA-1 to original BIOS

I recently picked up an IA-1 on eBay.. it came with a USB CF reader and a 64Mb card programmed w/ Linux and Dolly, etc. It boots fine from the CF socket in the side of the IA-1 (in Windows), but it seems the guy I bought it from never backed up the original MSN BIOS to the CF. If I switch the boot device to the internal "drive" (Sandisk) it tries to load drives and errors out, so I think he trashed the BIOS.

I want to return this unit to its' original BIOS as shipped(yes, I know, that's sick and wrong, but my wife wants it to replace her existing IA-2 on MSN and she has an account). I assume this would involve writing a new image to a CF card, then transferring it to flash the BIOS in the unit. Once I get to that point I can get into the modem setup (the old Control-U trick) and download the latest MSN Companion stuff.
If it helps the model number is 178358-001.

Thanks in advance for any help...

Hi,
I have a new, never used, IA-1 (also bought at ebay) with the MSN Software on it, in an excellent condition.
I like to have an IA-1 that has already Linux on it - so if you want we could send us the devices, and everybody has what he likes.
You would gain a fresh MSN loaded IA-1 without any work, and I would gain a IA-1 with Linux (or do you have Windows?).
What do you think?
The only thing would be, that we have to pay for shipping.
That's all.
(BTW: I live in OR).

In what condition is your device?

Sound like a deal. It appears to be in "like new" condition...clean!
BTW, I live in Oregon as well (Clatskanie).
Contact me by email cryptic@charter.net for more info...then we can call each other on the phone and discuss this.

I just checked it...it boots to Windows on the CF card...the CF card is a 64M & a directory listing of the card includes dolly.exe, qnx_1_1.img, Linux-3.img, and Midori_3.img (sounds like all the image files you'd initially need are there except for the partition utility, which is easily downloaded).
