in system BIOS flashing

Has anyone tried to flash their BIOS from a CF device? I have an "unhackable" BIOS, but I have found that it will respond if a hardware change is detected. This means I can boot from the CF device.

This would be much preferred to having the chip removed and a socket installed.

Thanks,

so if you can boot from a cf disk, load what you need to make the disk bootable. add the flash util's and flash image file. get to a prompt and try to flash the bios. either it will flash or it wont. So long as you dont have a power outtage or the worng image you should be fine.

What I'd like to know is how Airman sucked the BE.IMG and BE2.IMG bios files out of the internal flash. Now _that_ would be interesting.

Mainly because I want a backup before I start trying to overwrite mine. :)

be.img and be2.img are not BIOS files. They are copies of the internal flash drive. Dolly.exe can be used to both extract IMG files on to the internal flash drive, as well as creating IMG files from the internal flash drive onto an external compact flash disk.
Search the forum, there are instructions for backing up the original MSN Companion software before replacing it with a new operating system.
