Now that I have Midori up and running I'm liking my ia1 more and more. I managed to get pop3check and ia1led in my /tmp/config directory (had to ditch the games I don't play to make room but who cares) and now it even turns on the mail light when I have messages waiting in my main account....cool. Still have to work it into a config file to start up automatically but I can take care of that quickly.

The problem is making the light go off when I don't have messages. pop3check dosen't have a way to execute a different command if there is no mail - it can only send a command where there is mail. Eventually I can probably hack it to work but temporarially I was wondering if there is an easy way to remap the "butterfly" key to shut the light off.

I looked into Xmodmap but it only seems to have a way to remap them to other keys not to commands. Is there any simple way to map the key to a command so I can just press the butterfly to shut the light off?

Or should I stick to hacking pop3check so it can execute a command when there is no mail.....

try using the icewm 'keys' settings. You can copy /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/icewm/keys to /tmp/config/home/.icewm/keys, then edit it to add your own shortcuts.
