DO NOT TRY IT, the only way you can do that is for FORCE the computer to run in hardware mode only. If you use any kind of software driver it will F*** up your hard drive. By the way windows automaticly trys to load a standerd IDE driver when you boot using a usb drive. I know I'v tryed with a bunch of different hard drives and a few different computers that support botting off of usb drives. Linux can do it but you would have to set it up right.

The way I got a system to boot was to use DUSE dos usb software. But its 16bit and you got to keep it using that dos combatablity software or what ever. I'v never hurd of a switch like that. Mainly cause I'v never tryed.http://members.panax.com/bachh/ My EZnet 200 tower, hacking page.
