Did I blow it UP?
IA-2 Black screen

Today I had to hit the reset switch I my IA-2 and when I did it failed to come back on, none of the LED lights on top are lighting up, I unplugged it and waited awhile and plugged it back in and still nothing, no lights on the top of it, and the screen is black, I do here some weird humming noise or something coming from the unit that i never heard before, any help would be appreciated. This thing has to have a fuse or circut thats blown that maybe i could replace, but im not all that familar with the monitor aspect of the IA-2, this is driving me crazy, I did crack it open and the sound seems to be coming from a black box area that has some controls for the screen etc, I know someone has to know how i can fix this thing, or is it just shot???

Thanks to anyone that can help

Any chance your reset switch could be mechanically binding/stuck? I use my reset switch all the time to get into BIOS... never had a problem and a LOT easier getting there than by unplugging/re-plugging the entire unit into a power cord. Have you tried plugging it in (the way I dislike doing) while simultaneously pressing Ctrl-u (or Compaq key, with or without caps) to see if it will boot into BIOS? Then do a full download/upgrade of the core OS via the MS knowledge base instructionS (I forget the Q number)?

Yes i unplugged and waited 30 minutes and plugged it back in still no lights or nothing just a weird humming noise. the compaq logo does not flash on the screen none of the led lights come on, I also check the reset switch from the inside of the unit to make sure it was not stuck in reset mode and it is fine, I think it has something to do with the monitor portion of the unit, I know someone out there can help. there has to be a main fuse or circut blown but i can't seemed to find any burned welds or solder points that are fried. anyways im waiting to see if anyone has the answer.
