This may help your quest. I have been doing some research on loading Windows CE 3.0 on the IA-2. All just preliminary. So far...not to good. Worse, I am not a hacker or a programer but I hate to see equipment like the IA-2 die when it still works.

If you are as frustrated as me with the IA-2 then check out http://www.ia2hacking.com I have become so frustrated with the lack of info on hacking the IA2 I have created the ia2hacking.com site. As you will see there is very little activity at the moment, but if you have any help on hacking the IA2 then head on over and help us all out.

Please tell us how you plan to "BURN THE IMAGE"

Now that we have ANY image, or how to get to the "FAIL SAFE" or "SETUP" screen.

Thanks.

These are designed to use flash memory, not a harddrive (won't even boot from one). Get a compact flash adapter and plug it into the ide header, then you can get a BeIA image file from an IA-1 or Clipper and put on a CF card. You can find images on the net and use "dd" in a Linux box to load them onto the CF card. With that installed, your IA-2 should bypass the DOC and boot BeIA. There is a project in the works that should bring a lot of use back to these now that they've been abandoned by Compaq. I'll post a notice here when most of the tinkering on it is done.

Midori or some other Linux would work (almost) as well I suppose, just don't use it for IA's myself.

Has anyone had any luck with a Web Download for the IA-2 or IA-1 for that matter? Or tricking the IA-2 to download the MSN tv2 image onto the IA-2? These are just still collecting dust and just think sooner or later someone will figure it out. There has to be away to download a OS onto these things with out making any MODS. Just a matter of finding a image or someone to host it on the web, for auto download. I can't imagine that these 2 units were only designed to run the MSN companion software. Still here though. Let me know if anyone has had luck. Just not wanting to waste more money and time into Modifications on these units.

Last I thought this THREAD was for The MSN COMPANION, not the MSN tv,Don't they have a seperate thread? if anyone has any bright ideas on getting these units the IA-1 or IA-2 up and running with zero to few modifications let me know, there could be quite a bit of money to be made here. Especially if we could do a web download of some sort to make it easy for the eldery that got forced into Msn tv that they hate.

thanks in advance
