Non-Midori, non-Jailbait Linux image

I'm putting together a Linux image based loosely on LFS, uClibc, TinyX/kdrive, and ratpoison/ratmenu. Is there anyone out there that'd be interested in such an image? If so, what things would you want to see in such an image?

I would, if you could manage support for the onboard ethernet port on the "Clipper" IA-1's. For some reason, I haven't yet been able to get the port to work with any *nix OS. Also, I'd be interested if you could leave open the possibility of allowing the X server to be started as an XDM host. This would just imply that you could change the way X started, so it would need to be on a filesystem that could be modified.

I can try to get the ethernet working. I'll need the output of 'lspci -v' executed on one, though.

As for write-only vs. writable root, I'm leaning towards using an initrd as root, and storing that on an easily-modifiable minix partition, with a little extra space. It just doesn't make much sense to use a non-compressed filesystem for the rest of the filesystem, though. (/usr, etc...)

I'll see what I can do - the problem is that the IA-1 is currently running FreeBSD. Perhaps if you tell me what info you are looking for, I can obtain it using pciconf/dmesg.

Here's a chunk of 'lspci -v' from an IA-1:

00:01.0 PCI bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8501 (prog-if 00 [Normal decode])
Flags: bus master, 66Mhz, medium devsel, latency 0
Bus: primary=00, secondary=01, subordinate=01, sec-latency=0
Memory behind bridge: 40000000-410fffff

I at least need the ethernet chipset...

pciconf -l might work, but it seems to give the information only in hex.
