I'm still hacking away at my IA-1. My current situation is
I have a CF card that will boot ElDorito and under LINUX
I can perform many operations on the CF card and also the
SanDisk card. Following are some observations and questions.

I can read and write my CF card with WIN98 and WINXP. Doing
a SYS E: on WIN98 creates the 3 boot files that I can see
with DIR /A but this will not boot on the IA-1. I've gone
through this process with DOS6.22 and it will not boot.
I also tried a DOS image with DiskProbe under WINXP

Eldorito boots and runs from the CF card.

Under a CF-booted Eldorito I have copied Eldorito to hda1
on the Sandisk. I can see the files with ls -a /dev/hda1.
This will not boot when boot order is changed to C first,
- with or without the CF card inserted.

Of course I've tried to load and boot the other images
M41, workstation, Eldorito, a DOS6.22 image, etc. None
of these will boot from hda1 on the SanDisk. I tried
re-formatting the Sandisk to one partition and installed
an ext2 file system. Nothing worked,

Is it possible that my IA-1 will not ever run from the
internal Sandisk.

Is there in existence anywhere an image other than Eldorito
that will boot from a CF card.??

Still tring in Atlanta

The easiest way to boot from the sandisk is to dd a working OS image to it. Midori and Jailbait linux distros are available. Just boot from CF, and dd the image to the sandisk. If you need more, this board has more than one tutorial written on it.
