Does anyone mind if I ask a slightly off-topic question please?
Your CF-IDE hack looks great! We have been messing about with plugging an IDE drive into
a Compaq iPAQ 3870 handheld PC. However, we have been using "off the shelf" stuff like a PC card Expansion Jacket, PC card adaptor and cable, Addonics external IDE case, and a 2.5" HDD.
The problem is that the whole thing is really big, with cables and connectors all over the place:-
iPaq - Expansion Jacket,
Jacket to PC card adaptor,
PC adaptor with Flying cable,
cable connector to Addonics case
Addonics case to IDE HDD.
By using the CF to IDE HDD we could cut out the Addonics case for a start!
The question is, Has any of you folks tried connecting an IDE drive to an iPAQ
in this way?
Is there any need for the PC card adaptor, rather than a cf adaptor?
Does anyone have the technical knowledge to give advice?
Sorry to hijack your thread with off-topic, but it sounds like you all know what your doing.
