Having problems with installation

I am new to linux, but I am very capable of following instructions, so I'm not sure what's going wrong here. I am using Windows XP pro along with diskprobe, eltorito.img and midori_3.img all from http://www.ia1hacking.com.

I am able to get the eltorito thing loaded to where i can log in as root. The first phase, if you will, is no problem. Installing midori is the issue. When i type the command "dd if=/dev/hdc of=/dev/hda count=31296" i get the response " dd: /dev/hda: Input/output error; 16405+0 records in; 16404+0 records out"

I am totally clueless as to what is going on here. I've searched around the forum and googled it to no avail.

Any and all help is appreciated.

I am assuming that you have already moved the eltorito image to the center drive and have rebooted off of that. A few questions. When you copied the midori image onto the cf card, did you do it using dd? What was the count? It looks as if there are only 16404 records on your cf card. What does the card look like using fdisk under linux? ie. fdisk /dev/whatever and then "p" to print the partition table.

I guess I'm not that good at reading, you said you were using windows XP. If you have a Linux box around it is quite easy to copy the image onto the cf using dd. I would guess that for some reason the image is not geting copied over right. Don't know how you would check that from a MS windows box.
