Just wanted to let the board that a cannibalized 4gb microdrive(stuck in ide mode) from gigabank thumb drive works fine on the IA-1.

I tried using a seagate 4GB microdrive, but IA-1 keep rebooting.

when the microdrive is first inserted, the bootup screen showed that the microdrive is detected and restart. On the second bootup, the screen showed the new drive detected screen again, but now with only the onboard 16MB CF. It will then repeat over and over again.

Does anyone know if IA-1 is not compatible with the newer mircordrive from seagate.

The Seagate microdrive is a higher voltage which is likely your problem. I had the same problem with a Seagate MD. The Hitachi MD (not the white ones on ebay that are scavenged from Ipods)which is a light blue color does work at the lower voltage.

silly people use a normal compact flash,Micro Drives use way to much power

My Compaq ia-1 has :

All drivers,Sound Works Grate/Video Also Dose
1 1gb compaq flash

i put in a 4gb and it works,if i ever get enuff for a 16gb compact flash it will be
my new Ftp,i want to get 4 Compact flash usb readers and a usb hub and try that out

oh anyone selling a NIC/orical Pc<internet appliance> LET ME KNOW
